A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of your brain, damaging brain cells. Depending on the area and the extent of the brain damage, the consequences can be life changing.
You can recognize a stroke by remembering “FAST”:
- Face – is it drooping?
- Arms – can you raise both?
- Speech – Is it slurred or jumbled?
- Time to call 911 right away.
